Now that storm season has finally passed and the sun is shining you may be thinking you’re out of the woods when it comes to weather damage to your industrial doors but did you know that warm weather can bring it’s own issues?
Your doors are just like any mechanical product in that to ‘run like a well oiled machine’ they need to be just that, well oiled. However, with the sun beating down and providing us all with a glorious heat it has every opportunity to dry out any existing lubricant measures. Dry mechanisms can lead to major damage and costly repairs.
Prolonged exposure to the sun can also cause component parts like guides, bearings and springs to expand which can affect the performance of the door. You may notice your doors are no longer operating as smoothly, catching or sound louder than usual and these can be early warning signs of heat damage.
Another challenge that the incoming season can bring is an excess of dust particles being kicked up whenever your industrial doors are being operated or vehicles drive near them. This can then settle in the door mechanisms and cause them to get clogged up and start jamming.
As the saying goes ‘prevention is better than cure’. We understand the impact a door being out of order can pose to the efficiency of your business so take this as your friendly reminder to prevent your doors from succumbing to the perils of summer.
